Gambia launches new tugboat

Today I had the honour of representing Alport at the official launch of our brand-new tugboat, an investment in the future of our port and our economy. 💪 Alongside GRTS, Star FM TV and many other media houses, we got to experience it firsthand: out on the water, water cannons spraying into the air to make a rainbow , drone shots, interviews, and a lot of pride all around. This isn't just a new vessel. It's stronger port operations, more trade, and The Gambia moving one step closer to where we're meant to be. 🇬🇲 Big thanks to everyone who came out and made today special. Stay tuned, the videos are coming! What do you think this means for The Gambia's future? Drop it in the comments! #Alport #TheGambia #GambiaRising #NewTugboat #Banjul #GambianEconomy #ProudGambian

🇩🇰 🔐 A person claiming responsibility for a data breach involving Denmark’s Central Register of Persons (CPR) says they accessed the system through an account belonging to an IT company that used the password “123456.” Danish newspaper Politiken reported that at least three accounts at the company, including an administrator account, were protected by the same password. The individual said they had no intention of selling or leaking the information.

The breach exposed the names, addresses and personal identification numbers of approximately 8.8 million people, according to Danish broadcaster DR. The Ministry of Research, Education and Digitalization said the incident involved the misuse of a Danish company’s authorized access to the register. Authorities have suspended the company’s access and notified the Danish Data Protection Agency. The ministry said people registered for name and address protection were not affected by the unauthorized access.

Research, Education and Digitalization Minister Christina Egelund urged people to remain vigilant and warned them not to disclose passwords or other confidential information in response to phone calls, emails, or other inquiries, even if the person contacting them knows their name, address, or CPR number.

The CPR system contains about 11 million registered people, including deceased people and Danish citizens who have moved abroad.

US President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday over strikes on Russian oil refineries, arguing that the attacks were driving up global energy prices.

"I think that's a disgrace. There's plenty of other targets," Trump said in an interview with Newsmax, criticizing attacks on facilities producing diesel fuel.

"When you shoot at diesel refineries where you make, you know, diesel oil and we need that, and the world needs that, then he's not doing a good service for the world," he added.

Speaking on Newsmax's "Finnerty" program from the White House, Trump also questioned Zelenskyy's leadership and willingness to negotiate an end to the war.

"Zelenskyy is not a good guy for us to deal with," Trump said.

"He doesn't want to settle. He says he wants to settle, but he doesn't. No, I'm not a big fan of Zelenskyy," he added.

Asked about a proposed two-month pause to allow Ukraine to hold elections, Trump responded: "I think you need an election."

He also questioned whether Ukrainians were satisfied with their leadership amid continued Russian attacks on residential buildings.

Trump cited an interview with a Ukrainian woman who blamed Zelenskyy for the country's suffering and military losses, quoting her as saying: "Zelensky has destroyed our country."

The US president also argued that Russia's larger population gave Moscow a significant manpower advantage over Ukraine.

He said Russia could sustain heavy military losses while Ukraine lacked comparable manpower.

Trump acknowledged that Ukraine had received advanced US military equipment, describing it as the "best equipment in the world."

Detainees escape police buses at Delhi election protest

Detained protesters managed to escape custody during ongoing demonstrations in New Delhi calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over disputed changes to the country's voter rolls. The unrest has unfolded over three consecutive days, with Delhi Police detaining more than 700 people on Friday alone, including former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, according to local media. Protesters say the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision has stripped more than 130 million names from voter rolls nationwide, disproportionately affecting Muslim-majority areas, in a process they allege favors Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling BJP. The Election Commission maintains the revision is meant to remove duplicate, deceased, or ineligible entries. The demonstrations have drawn criticism from Amnesty International, which said the right to peaceful protest "does not depend on government approval," while some protesters have alleged police violence; one JNU student said she was "dragged by my hair." Separately, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and dozens of MPs were briefly detained during a related march to the Election Commission's headquarters.

Protesters lie down outside Israeli embassy in Seoul

Near the Israeli embassy in Seoul, demonstrators lay on the ground in a symbolic gesture of solidarity with Palestinians, as part of an event condemning three years of war in Gaza. The protest continues a pattern of near-daily demonstrations held outside the embassy in South Korea's capital since late 2023. The timing coincides with heightened protest activity expected globally around the third anniversary of the genocide's outbreak, with Seoul named among the cities anticipating larger-than-usual demonstrations. Organizers of the long-running Seoul protests have said their aim is to keep public attention on the war and maintain pressure on both the Israeli and South Korean governments.

A classified CIA assessment has warned that deepening political, economic and social fractures could put Israel at risk of civil war or state collapse, according to a report published Monday.

The assessment, titled “Fracture From Within,” was prepared in August by the CIA’s Red Cell, a unit tasked with challenging prevailing intelligence assumptions, Drop Site News reported, citing two US sources familiar with its contents.

The CIA did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment.

The assessment points to a volatile mix of pressures ahead of Israel’s Oct. 27 election, including economic strain, rising military spending, anger over exemptions from compulsory military service for ultra-Orthodox Jews and escalating violence by Israeli occupiers in the occupied West Bank.

It also identifies Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s fight to remain in power as a source of further political and constitutional tension.

Years of war in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran have deepened existing divisions, according to the report, as soldiers return from prolonged combat, many suffering serious psychological trauma.

The military draft dispute has emerged as one of Israel’s sharpest internal fault lines, with resentment growing over exemptions for ultra-Orthodox men following repeated reserve mobilizations.

The assessment also points to Israel’s growing international isolation, including eroding support in the US, as another factor that could deepen internal instability.

The UK has warned Israel that it will expel 27 Israeli diplomats from the Israeli embassy in London unless Tel Aviv reverses its decision to close the British Consulate General in East Jerusalem, Israel’s Ynet news website reported Monday

The warning came in a message delivered to Israeli officials by British Ambassador to Israel Simon Walters, the daily said.

The development has further strained the countries’ deteriorating bilateral ties.

Last month, the UK announced a trade ban on goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, citing the existence of "ethnic cleansing of Palestinians."

The move followed Israeli plans to build 1,200 new homes in the occupied territory, drawing widespread international condemnation, as all settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law.

Israel announced plans to close the British Consulate in occupied East Jerusalem, which serves as a liaison for Palestinians, in response to the UK’s move.
