Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Venezuela's acting President Delcy Rodriguez in Istanbul on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, energy and mining, with both sides targeting a $3 billion trade volume, according to a statement from the Communications Directorate.


Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Venezuela's acting President Delcy Rodriguez at the Presidential Dolmabahce Office in Istanbul on Monday for comprehensive talks covering bilateral relations and global developments, according to a statement from Türkiye's Communications Directorate. The meeting took place as part of a working visit Rodriguez is conducting in Türkiye at Erdogan's invitation, the directorate said on NSosyal.

Cooperation commitments

During the discussions, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye will always stand by the friendly people of Venezuela and remains committed to deepening cooperation across multiple strategic sectors. He highlighted trade, energy and mining as priority areas where both nations could expand collaboration, noting their shared objective of achieving a bilateral trade volume of $3 billion.

High-level attendance

The Turkish leader welcomed Rodriguez with an official ceremony before the two presidents proceeded to bilateral and delegation-level negotiations. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran and Presidential foreign policy adviser Akif Cagatay Kilic also attended the meeting.
