Fidan: Egypt, Türkiye to deepen 'excellent' bilateral ties

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has underscored the determination of Türkiye and Egypt to further deepen their bilateral ties, describing the current state of relations as "excellent" and built on a foundation of mutual trust. In a statement shared on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal following his two-day visit to Egypt, Fidan expressed gratitude to Egyptian officials for their "sincere hospitality," particularly praising his counterpart Badr Abdelatty as his "valued counterpart and brother." The visit, he noted, provided a valuable opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional developments.

Joint Planning and Strategic Agreements

During the visit, Fidan co-chaired the second meeting of the Türkiye-Egypt Joint Planning Group alongside Abdelatty. He also held separate meetings with Hassan Rashad, head of Egypt's General Intelligence Service, and Nabil Fahmy, secretary-general of the Arab League. The two countries signed agreements aimed at boosting bilateral trade, diversifying economic cooperation, and strengthening connectivity between Ankara and Cairo. These accords reflect a shared commitment to expanding the scope of partnership across multiple sectors.

Regional Responsibilities and Shared Vision

Fidan emphasized that "Türkiye and Egypt are two major states that act with an awareness of the responsibilities imposed on them by history and geography." He stressed that strengthening cooperation between the two nations serves not only their peoples' common interests but also contributes to peace, stability, and prosperity across the region. The foreign minister reaffirmed that both countries would continue working "shoulder to shoulder" in line with the vision of their presidents, further deepening relations based on mutual trust and shared interests.
