Israel seals Gaza crossings, cuts aid after Iranian missile attack

Israeli authorities closed all crossings into the Gaza Strip and suspended humanitarian aid deliveries until further notice following an Iranian missile attack on the country, claiming the measure would not affect the enclave's humanitarian situation despite repeated warnings from Palestinian and international organizations about worsening conditions.
Crossings sealed, aid suspended
Israeli Defense Ministry unit COGAT announced early Monday the immediate closure of all crossings into the Gaza Strip and the suspension of humanitarian aid deliveries until further notice following an Iranian missile attack on the country.
The measures include the sealing of the Kerem Shalom and Rafah crossings — the main entry points for humanitarian goods — according to The Times of Israel. COGAT introduced the restrictions early Monday in response to the Iranian ballistic missile attack. The unit stated that the security situation necessitated the complete halt of goods entering the enclave.
Humanitarian warnings
COGAT claimed the closure would not affect the humanitarian situation in Gaza, arguing that food supplies entering since the ceasefire began had significantly exceeded the population's nutritional needs under UN standards. Palestinian and international organizations have repeatedly warned about worsening hunger conditions in the territory, contradicting the Israeli assessment. Palestinian officials maintain that Israel has yet to fulfill key commitments under the ceasefire agreement, including permitting the agreed entry of food, medical supplies, shelter materials and reconstruction equipment.
Death toll and ceasefire violations
Israel's military campaign in Gaza since October 2023 has killed nearly 73,000 Palestinians and injured more than 173,000, most of them women and children, according to Palestinian figures. Despite a ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025 between Israel and Hamas, the Israeli army has killed 961 Palestinians and injured 3,020 in near-daily attacks, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The latest aid restrictions were imposed following an Iranian ballistic missile strike on Israel, further complicating humanitarian access to the besieged territory.
