Qatar emir holds Saudi, UAE talks amid US-Iran deal push

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held separate telephone conversations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Saturday to discuss regional stability and de-escalation efforts, according to official statements from Doha and Abu Dhabi.
Gulf leaders discuss regional stability
Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held separate telephone calls on Saturday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reviewing bilateral ties and regional security developments amid intensifying diplomatic activity. The Qatari Amiri Diwan stated that Sheikh Tamim and the Saudi crown prince exchanged views on strengthening cooperation and supporting political solutions to address root causes of regional crises.
During the call with the UAE leader, Sheikh Tamim discussed diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions and advancing political settlements, the Emirates News Agency reported. Both sides stressed the importance of reinforcing regional security through diplomatic tracks, according to WAM.
Pakistan mediation in Tehran
The conversations took place hours after Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir concluded a visit to Tehran, where he met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The visit formed part of mediation efforts led by Islamabad between Washington and Tehran.

Trump claims deal 'largely negotiated'
US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that an agreement with Iran had been "largely negotiated," adding that final details would be announced shortly. Trump also stated that the Strait of Hormuz "will be opened" as part of the understandings under discussion, as reports emerged that Tehran had presented a new formula for a possible deal.
