The Zionists lost New York!

When Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party candidate, won last year's New York City mayoral election, it sent shockwaves through the US. Mamdani, who describes himself as a "Democratic Socialist," had not received support from the established, pro-Israel mainstream wing of the Democratic Party due to his pro-Palestinian rhetoric. The Israel Lobby had also made a great effort to prevent Mamdani from winning in New York, where Jews are heavily concentrated. Mamdani, who had defeated pro-Israel candidates in the primaries, going on to win the mayoralty was hailed as an extraordinary victory for the wing of the Democratic Party's mainstream that lies to the left of the Left.

Some had evaluated Mamdani's victory, which was supported by Senator Bernie Sanders, as the "beginning of the end" for the Democratic Party's established leadership. Mamdani's leftist line can be compared to Jeremy Corbyn, who for a time led the Labour Party in the UK and was later purged after being declared "anti-Semitic" as a result of the Israel Lobby's intrigues. I should also recall that Corbyn was accused of pulling the Labour Party from the center to the left.

In the eyes of the American Right, Democratic Socialists are accused of being the "far Left." Yet in Europe, socialist parties are considered mainstream. Public opinion surveys in the US also show that a significant portion of young voters view Democratic Socialism favorably. These surveys were a result of the centrist, established Democratic leadership alienating the working class by prioritizing the interests of big corporations.

The "Democratic Socialists of America" (DSA) organization operates around the Democratic Party. The DSA, which does not directly participate in elections, works for its own candidates to win at local and federal levels. Mamdani's victory was the clearest sign that the Democratic Socialists had become a political phenomenon in the US that could no longer be ignored.

Indeed, in the candidate races for the November House of Representatives elections, the DSA also came to the fore. In Tuesday night's Democratic Party primaries in New York, three candidates backed by Mamdani and the DSA won. Two of these three candidates defeated two incumbent Representatives. It had been customary for incumbents to win in primary elections. The grassroots reaction to the institutional corruption in the Democratic Party has begun to eliminate these customs as well. Young voters have also declared war on the party's institutional leadership.

The fact that three Democratic Socialists won primaries in New York shows that it is possible for the Democratic Party to evolve toward a "populist Left" line. Some political analysts see the Democratic Socialists as the counterpart within the Democratic base to the Trumpist (MAGA, America First) populist wing of the Republican Party. The mainstream, centrist wing of the Democratic Party, however, argues that the Democratic Socialists are alienating the party's moderate circles.

Ashik Siddique, co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), made the following statement regarding the New York primaries:

"People want the expansion of high-quality public transportation services, universal child care services, and the raising of the minimum wage to a living wage. When they hear these policies being brought to the agenda, all of these issues receive great support among the people."

Another factor that makes the New York elections significant is that the candidates who won the primaries were "pro-Palestinian," while the losing candidates were "staunchly pro-Israel." Despite all the efforts of the Israel Lobby and pro-Israel front organizations and donation committees, the victory of pro-Palestinian candidates was a very heavy blow for the Zionists. This political defeat in New York, the city with the largest Jewish population outside Israel, emerged as the most important agenda item in Zionist publications.

Zionist publications noted that the defeat in New York, which had been described as a city where being pro-Israel was politically advantageous, would have serious consequences for Israel. Brad Lander, a Jewish American backed by Mamdani, is being accused of defeating Dan Goldman, a staunchly pro-Israel Jewish candidate. The Zionists accuse Lander of being an "anti-Jewish Jew."

In a Zionist publication, it was recalled that New York shaped the Democratic Party's dominant stance toward Israel, and it was stated: "That era ended quietly at first, and then suddenly. On Tuesday night, it was completely buried in history." The same publication also warned that the pro-Israel center of gravity in New York has shifted, and that the speed of this shift is accelerating.
