105 PKK terrorists killed in three southeastern Turkish towns

Security forces killed dozens of PKK members in three southeastern Turkish towns in last 6 days

Security forces continue to conduct operations in Cizre and Silopi districts of Şırnak province of Turkey, where curfews were declared and operations conducted against the terrorists.

The Turkish General Staff said that 105 Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) members have been neutralized in Turkey's Şırnak province since December 15.

The number of terrorists killed in Cizre is now officially 89, while nine others were killed in Silopi.

In Silopi, 596 houses were searched, while 53 houses were searched in Cizre.

Thirteen policemen and 23 security forces were wounded during the operations.

Also, seven PKK terrorists were killed in Sur town of Diyarbakır province.

PKK continues to target schools and hospitals

Meanwhile, the PKK, which has been targeting civilians, burned a school and two health care centers in Silopi.

The terrorist organization instructed militants to demolish all houses, schools and hospital buildings in Cizre and Silopi towns of Şırnak province.

“The organization has caused great distress to residents. We will not remain unresponsive. The cities are being rescued from militants by declaring curfew. We will continue (fighting against the organization), " Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a statement.

Thousands of people in eastern Turkey have left their homes in the violence.

10,000 security personnel involved

A huge crack team of 10,000 soldiers and security personnel has been involved in the sweeping operation.

Anti-terror raids have been held in Şırnak province's towns, including Cizre and Silopi.

High-ranking military officials, including three lieutenant generals, eight brigadier generals and 26 colonels, coordinated the joint operation.

The PKK is an armed militant group that has been carrying out terror attacks mostly in southeastern Turkey since early 1980s.

In 2013, Turkish government launched the 'Peace Process' to end years of armed conflict with the PKK and build reforms regarding the constitution. However, the PKK ended the ceasefire on July 11.
