17 PKK terrorists killed in southeastern Turkey

Total number of terrorists killed exceeds 465 in Cizre, Silopi and Sur towns of Şırnak and Diyarbakır provinces

The Turkish military said that 17 more members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) had been killed in southeastern Turkey.

Eleven of the total 17 terrorists were killed in Cizre town of Şırnak province, while the remaining 6 were killed in Cizre town of Şırnak province and Sur town of Diyarbakır province.

With the recent killings, the total number of the terrorists killed in Cizre reached 261, in Silopi 126 and in Sur 78.

Thirty-six Kalashnikov rifles, 100 magazines, a large quantity of fireworks, six rocket launchers, 16 weapons and ammunition, 31 units of shipped cartridge, 45 hand grenades, two kg of explosives, two pairs of night-vision binoculars, a pair of hand-held binoculars, seven hand-held radios, four gas masks, a mine detector and 15 tubes to be used for handmade explosives were seized during the operations in Silopi.

Also, eight handmade explosives were destroyed in the district while another was destroyed in Cizre.

Meanwhile, two terrorists were captured in the Birecik town of Syria trying to illegally enter Turkey from Syria; three suspects who were discovered to be carrying out YDG-H activities were arrested and taken into custody in Şırnak and Kars provinces of Turkey.

Turkey has been fighting against the PKK to rescue cities from militants by declaring curfews and launching operations in the region.

The PKK – considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU – resumed its armed campaign in late July.

More than 200 members of the security forces were martyred and over 3,100 PKK terrorists were killed in 2015 alone.
