Fidan holds phone talks with Saudi, Iranian and UK counterparts

Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a series of high-level phone conversations with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait and the United Kingdom over the past week to discuss ongoing conflicts and peace efforts across the Middle East. The diplomatic push included discussions on the war in Gaza and broader regional security challenges, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

On July 31, Fidan spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan about efforts to end ongoing conflicts in the region. The following day, he held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the latest developments in ongoing negotiation processes. "Türkiye will continue its efforts to end the conflicts in our region and establish a lasting peace," Fidan said during the conversation with his Iranian counterpart.

UK and Balkan outreach

On August 3, Fidan spoke with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah regarding regional developments. Later that same day, he congratulated Zulfikar Zeynula, chairman of the Turkish Democratic Party of North Macedonia, on his appointment as state minister in Skopje.

Also on August 3, Fidan held talks with Britain's new Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, congratulating him on his recent appointment. The two ministers discussed the situation in Gaza, developments in the Russia-Ukraine war and broader efforts to end conflicts in the region.
