Fidan says Türkiye and Ukraine deepening strategic partnership amid conflict

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said that Türkiye and Ukraine will continue to deepen their strategic partnership, describing his visit to Kyiv as "highly productive." In a post on social media platform X, Fidan noted that the bilateral relationship is "growing stronger every day" despite the ongoing war.

Trade Milestone and Bilateral Ties

Fidan met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, presidential office head Kyrylo Budanov and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during the visit. He welcomed the Ukrainian parliament's approval of a free trade agreement shortly before his arrival, calling it "an important milestone" that will create new opportunities for business communities in both countries. The Turkish minister also reaffirmed Ankara's support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Support for Crimean Tatars and Peace Efforts

During the visit, Fidan met with Crimean Tatar National Leader Mustafa Abdulcemil Kırımoğlu and Mejlis Chairman Refat Çubarov, stating that "the protection of the rights of the Crimean Tatars and the preservation of their cultural identity will always remain a priority for Türkiye." He also said Ankara is ready to support all initiatives that can bring the parties to the negotiating table and contribute to lasting peace.
