Turkish communications chief condemns Israeli raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque

Türkiye's Communications Director Burhanettin Duran has strongly condemned the Israeli raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. "No attempt targeting the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque is acceptable," Duran said in a social media post.

Escalation and Regional Tensions

Duran warned that the provocative actions of the "genocidal Netanyahu government" aimed at eroding Jerusalem's historical and legal status further escalate tensions and undermine hopes for lasting peace. He stressed that protecting the historical status of Jerusalem and the mosque is not only a regional responsibility but a shared duty of the international community. Around 1,300 Israeli settlers stormed the compound on Thursday, marking the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'Av.

Türkiye's Position

Duran vowed that Ankara will continue to defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and Jerusalem under international law. The remarks follow President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's previous statements on the importance of preserving the holy site's status.
