Türkiye reports 752 km of terror tunnels destroyed in northern Syria operations

The Turkish National Defense Ministry announced that its operations in northern Syria have now neutralized 752 kilometers of underground tunnel networks used by terrorist groups. Officials emphasized continued support for Syria's territorial integrity and called for the full implementation of existing agreements to ensure lasting regional stability.
Turkish defense officials stated on Thursday that military operations in northern Syria have led to the destruction of 752 kilometers of terrorist tunnel networks, marking a significant milestone in Ankara’s cross-border counterterrorism efforts. Ministry spokesman Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, during his weekly briefing, confirmed that an additional five kilometers of tunnels were eliminated in the past week alone, bringing the total identified network in the Manbij region to 93% destruction.
Support for Syrian Stability and Security
Aktürk reiterated Türkiye’s backing for the Syrian government’s efforts to restore public order and protect civilians, particularly in operations extending from Aleppo. He stressed that lasting peace depends on the strict adherence by the SDF/YPG to the March 10 and January 18 agreements, which are seen as crucial for integration and stability. "Türkiye continues to support Syria in the fight against terrorist organizations and in strengthening its defense capacity," the spokesman stated.
Responding to Provocations and Monitoring Developments
The ministry also addressed what it described as an "organized provocation" in the area between Nusaybin and Qamishli, noting that the involved parties have been identified and that an administrative investigation is underway. Officials affirmed that Ankara is closely monitoring the situation in Syria and remains prepared to take necessary actions if conditions on the ground require it. Regarding detention facilities for ISIS detainees, the ministry clarified that no official request has been received from Syrian authorities on the matter.
