Türkiye sends 360 tons of aid to displaced Lebanese civilians

Türkiye delivered 360 tons of humanitarian aid to Beirut port for Lebanese civilians displaced by Israeli attacks, with officials pledging continued assistance. More than one million people have been forced from their homes. The shipment includes tents, food, blankets, and clothing, coordinated with Lebanese authorities for fair distribution.
Turkish humanitarian aid to Lebanon will continue as displacement worsens due to ongoing Israeli military operations, Lebanese and Turkish officials announced Monday during a ceremony at Beirut port marking the delivery of 360 tons of assistance. The shipment, organized by the Turkish Charity Stone Association (Sadaka Tasi) in coordination with Turkish state institutions, includes tents, ready-to-eat meals, bedding, and winter clothing. Lebanese Development Minister Fadi Makki described the support as coming “at a crucial time,” reflecting genuine solidarity with Lebanon amid ongoing attacks. “This support is not limited to the humanitarian aspect but also includes a political stance supporting Lebanon in condemning the Israeli attacks,” Makki added.
Mass displacement and urgent needs
More than one million people have been displaced in Lebanon since Israeli attacks intensified, representing roughly one-fifth of the population. Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon Murat Lutem told Anadolu that Israeli strikes since 2024 have caused significant suffering and large-scale displacement, and Türkiye has now provided over 1,700 tons of humanitarian aid in total. “More than 1 million Lebanese have been displaced from their homes … amid continued violations of the ceasefire, making the need for aid extremely urgent,” Lutem said. The current shipment arrives in three batches, with the first delivered in early April, the second on Monday, and a third expected soon.
Fair distribution and civil society role
Health Committee head Bilal Abdullah praised Türkiye’s consistent support since 2024, saying it has “left a significant impact on the conscience of the Lebanese people.” He confirmed that aid distribution follows a central mechanism through provincial governors, taking into account the number of displaced persons in each area to ensure fairness. Kemal Ozdal, head of the Turkish Charity Stone Association, noted that Turkish civil society organizations stand with Lebanon “based on a deep belief in shared human destiny.” He added that approximately 1,000 tons of aid were sent to Lebanon in 2025 via a dedicated ship. The new shipment consists of 38 containers valued at over $3 million.

Ceasefire context
US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel on Thursday, but Israeli forces continue daily violations, causing casualties and destruction. Since March 2, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have killed 2,294 people, wounded 7,544, and displaced more than one million, according to official figures. For Türkiye, which has historical and political ties to Lebanon, the aid mission also carries diplomatic weight, reinforcing Ankara’s stance against Israeli military actions and its commitment to regional solidarity.
