Türkiye's 17th Aid Ship Departs for Gaza with 900 Tons of Supplies

Türkiye has launched its seventeenth humanitarian aid vessel to Gaza, transporting roughly 900 tons of essential supplies from Mersin International Port to Egypt's Al Arish Port. The latest "Goodness Ship" mission continues Türkiye's sustained humanitarian support for Gaza's civilian population amid ongoing recovery efforts following recent hostilities.

The substantial shipment contains ready-to-eat food provisions, canned goods, and critical baby formula supplies intended to address fundamental nutritional needs in Gaza. The operation represents a collaborative effort between Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Egyptian Red Crescent, incorporating contributions from seventeen Turkish non-governmental organizations.

Following arrival at Egypt's Al Arish Port, the closest Mediterranean harbor to Gaza, the humanitarian cargo will proceed to the Karem Abu Salem border crossing for distribution within the Palestinian territory. This established logistical pathway has facilitated previous aid deliveries throughout the conflict period, ensuring supplies reach affected communities despite challenging conditions.

During the departure ceremony at Mersin Port, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced: "Today, we say 'The Goodness Ship is on its way to Gaza.' The Mediterranean vessel, loaded with 900 tons of food, canned goods, and baby formula, is now setting sail for Gaza." The declaration underscored Türkiye's commitment to sustained humanitarian engagement in the region.

This maritime delivery marks the seventeenth such vessel in a comprehensive aid program that has previously utilized sixteen ships and fourteen aircraft under AFAD coordination since October 2023. The humanitarian initiative continues despite the recent ceasefire agreement brokered by US President Donald Trump, which halted a conflict resulting in over 67,000 Palestinian casualties and widespread destruction.
