Two Syrian teens beaten to death in Hatay

Two sixteen-year-old Syrian boys killed in Iskenderun district of Hatay province

Police are investigating the fatal beatings of two teenaged boys. It is reported that Abdulhamit Taben and his relative Ahmet Taben were beaten to death with a stick by 31-year old Habip Oral.

Abdulhamit Taben, found in the street and taken to Iskenderun State Hospital on Wednesday night, was beaten to death, according to police report. While police started an investigation into this incident, Ahmet Taben's body was found in another street of the region.

It was said that the teens collected scrap from garbage for Habip Oral. Oral bludgeoned them frequently. Police arrested Habib Oral late Thursday and detained 4 other suspects in connection with the murders.

Meanwhile, an investigation was started to find the boys' relatives. Some are living in İstanbul, and others are still in Syria.

The number of Syrian and Iraqi refugees in Turkey has reached 2.5 million, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday. Many of them live in the Yayladagi refugee camp near the border in Hatay province.
