US Central Command has carried out its 11th consecutive night of strikes against Iran, targeting military operations centres, maritime capabilities and drone storage facilities. The command said the strait remains open for commercial transit despite Iranian aggression.
US Central Command has carried out its 11th consecutive night of strikes against Iran, targeting military operations centres, maritime capabilities and drone storage facilities. In a statement, CENTCOM said the attacks were designed to "further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz."
Commercial Shipping and US Operations
The command claimed Iran has attacked more than 30 commercial vessels in the waterway over the past three months. Despite the attacks, CENTCOM said the Strait of Hormuz remains open for commercial transit. Since early May, US forces have helped facilitate the movement of approximately 900 commercial vessels and about 450 million barrels of crude oil through the region.
Escalating Conflict
The strikes come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, which began with a joint US-Israeli offensive against Iran in February. A Pakistani-mediated memorandum of understanding signed in June failed to hold, with both sides resuming attacks last week.
