Local media reported fresh explosions Monday near the southern Iranian port of Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island, with Hormozgan officials stating no infrastructure damage occurred, as regional tensions between Tehran and Washington continued to escalate following recent military exchanges.

Iranian media reported new explosions Monday noon near the strategic port city of Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island in southern Hormozgan province, as regional tensions between Tehran and Washington continued to escalate following recent military exchanges between the two sides.

Coastal Blasts Reported

Mehr News Agency, citing local sources, said the blasts occurred west of Bandar Abbas and appeared to originate from coastal areas. The agency also noted possible clashes in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, though no official confirmation was immediately available from Iranian authorities.

The Hormozgan provincial governorate stated that no civilian casualties or damage to residential and commercial infrastructure had been reported in connection with the explosions. The fresh blasts came just hours after state-run IRNA reported at least two powerful explosions in Bandar Abbas earlier on Monday morning.

US-Iran Tensions Mount

The explosions occurred amid a sharp escalation between Iran and the United States in recent days, after Washington launched strikes on military and infrastructure targets across Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has retaliated with missile and drone attacks targeting US military facilities in regional countries, while accusing Washington of violating their June 17 memorandum of understanding — an agreement US President Donald Trump subsequently declared "over."
