Hamas on Sunday accused Israel of deliberately escalating its military campaign in the Gaza Strip to undermine ceasefire understandings reached with mediators, saying attacks since morning had killed more than 18 Palestinians and "wiped out" entire families. The Palestinian resistance group issued a statement describing the bombardment as a deliberate attempt to obstruct the deal.
'War crimes' accusations
The bombardment constituted "a deliberate escalation by the government of war criminal Netanyahu, aimed at obstructing the understandings reached with the mediators, including the US administration, to complete the implementation of the ceasefire agreement," the group said. Hamas described the attacks as acts that "amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity," urging the international community to take legal action against Israeli leaders.
Call to mediators
Hamas called on the mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to "assume their responsibilities" and condemn the Israeli attacks. The group demanded they "immediately" pressure Israel to halt its assaults, while urging measures to protect Palestinians facing "the threat of genocide and displacement."
Ceasefire roadmap
On Friday, the Peace Board and US President Donald Trump announced an agreement to implement the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire. The board said Hamas had accepted a detailed roadmap for the deal, though the Israeli government has not officially commented on the proposal.
