Hamas awaits Board of Peace response on Gaza ceasefire phase two

Hamas said on Monday that it is awaiting "a clear and official response" from Board of Peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov regarding understandings reached on implementing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. A senior source from the Palestinian group stated in a Telegram post that the factions remain committed to the agreed obligations for all parties. "Hamas and the Palestinian factions remain committed to what was agreed regarding the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, including the obligations of all parties," the source said.

Israel rejects withdrawal as mediators push phase two

The Board of Peace and US President Donald Trump announced an agreement on Friday to implement the next phase of the ceasefire, with the board stating that Hamas had accepted a detailed roadmap. Israel has not issued an official comment on the proposal. The daily Israel Hayom reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Mladenov that Israel "will not withdraw from positions it controls in Gaza and will not cease fire," claiming Hamas continues to rebuild its military capabilities in the enclave.

Death toll rises despite truce terms

Israeli forces have killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and wounded over 174,000 since launching the war in October 2023. Despite the ceasefire taking effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli attacks have continued across the territory, killing 1,250 Palestinians and injuring 4,110 others, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
