Iran says it got proposals from mediators to ease US tensions

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Monday that Tehran has received proposals from mediators aimed at de-escalating tensions with Washington, confirming officials are reviewing the offers while maintaining diplomatic channels. Speaking during a weekly press briefing carried by state broadcaster IRIB, Baqaei stated that third parties are working to prevent further escalation. "We have received the proposals through mediators, but will not discuss their details at this stage," he said.

Diplomatic and military tracks

He noted that Iran's diplomatic corps continues to operate alongside the country's armed forces. "While our armed forces respond firmly and decisively to the source of American aggression, diplomacy is fully aware of its duties and spares no effort in fulfilling them," Baqaei said. He added that diplomats "will not abandon their duty" just as the military "will not neglect their duty to defend the homeland."

Strait of Hormuz tensions

Baqaei said Iran is working with Oman to take measures "to fully exercise its sovereignty and prevent any security threats in the Strait of Hormuz." The remarks come amid continued US-Iran military exchanges despite a Pakistani-mediated memorandum signed last month to end their conflict, with tensions escalating again last week over the waterway.
