Trump said on Wednesday that the woman, identified by her lawyer as Dena Karari, had been wrongfully detained and was "now safely outside of Iran, and in good condition." The US president posted on Truth Social that "The United States of America appreciates this gesture of Goodwill by Iran!" following reports of her departure.

Contradictory accounts

The judiciary's statement carried by Press TV directly contradicted the US president's announcement made on his social media platform. Iranian authorities did not clarify whether Karari remains in custody or provide details on her case beyond the blanket denial regarding spy releases.
