Iran's Revolutionary Guard has launched missile and drone strikes on US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, including Patriot air defence systems and radar installations. The attacks are part of an expanding campaign as Washington continues its own strikes on Iranian targets.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has carried out missile and drone strikes on US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, targeting a Patriot air defence system, radar installations and communications centres. The attacks on Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait struck an MQ-9 drone hangar, damaging multiple drones, as well as a long-range radar site and a satellite-receiving system.
Expanding Military Campaign
In a separate attack, the IRGC said it destroyed a US radar facility and a Patriot air defence system in Bahrain. The strikes are part of the second phase of the 24th wave of Operation Nasr 2, with the IRGC saying operations are continuing. The escalation comes as the US has intensified its own attacks on Iran in recent days.
Failed Diplomatic Efforts
The exchanges continue despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June, which was intended to end the war and establish a lasting peace agreement. The failure of diplomatic efforts has allowed the military confrontation to expand across the Gulf region, drawing in US allies and hosting bases into the conflict.
