Acting Defense Minister Seyed Majid Ebn Reza said Tehran tripled drone production through advanced technology investments during the recent conflict with Washington and Tel Aviv, as tensions persist over the strategic Strait of Hormuz despite a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire agreement.

Advanced technology drive

Iran's acting defense minister on Saturday said Tehran tripled its drone production during the recent war with the United States and Israel through heavy investment in advanced technologies, calling the modernization drive a pillar of national defense strategy. "The recent war demonstrated that Iran's investment in advanced technologies is one of the main pillars of its defense capabilities," Seyed Majid Ebn Reza told members of parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, according to the official IRNA news agency.

War claims and readiness

Ebn Reza stated that Iran faced sophisticated military and psychological warfare during the 12-day conflict in June 2025, claiming more than 150 leading technology companies had supported Washington and Tel Aviv. The minister said the scale of technological alignment against Tehran presented unprecedented challenges during the brief but intense war. Despite these challenges, he said Iran had emerged successfully "in both wars," adding that all Iranian institutions and state agencies remain fully prepared to confront any future attack.

Strait of Hormuz tensions

The remarks come amid renewed tensions over the strategic Strait of Hormuz despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June aimed at ending the war that began in late February. The agreement called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iran and the reopening of the vital waterway. Washington and Tehran exchanged attacks this week over commercial traffic passage through the strait, according to agency reports.
