Iran warns US to expect 'surprises' if attacks and violations persist

Iran's military has issued a stark warning to the United States, stating that continued attacks and violations of a bilateral memorandum of understanding would be met with "surprises." Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia told the Iranian Students' News Agency that US President Donald Trump would face "unexpected challenges" from Iran's armed forces if Washington persists with its "adventurous" and "malicious" policies.

Unexpected Challenges Ahead

"US officials will face new and unexpected challenges from the army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, both in terms of weapons and the geography of the war, that they could never imagine," Akraminia said. He argued that the US cannot fully control developments even in areas where it claims military dominance, and warned that Iranian vessels continue to sail through the Strait of Hormuz into the Indian Ocean, signaling Tehran's determination to maintain its presence in the region.

Immediate Response to Any Threat

Akraminia emphasised that "any threat by the US or its allies would draw an immediate and severe response" from Tehran. The warning follows a series of attacks between the two sides, despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding intended to de-escalate tensions and move toward lasting peace. The escalating conflict over the strategic waterway shows no sign of abating.
