Iran's Khamenei says Trump signature 'utterly worthless'

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Saturday accused the United States of repeatedly breaching a June memorandum of understanding, stating that President Donald Trump's signature is "utterly worthless" and devoid of credibility amid escalating military tensions. Speaking on the social media platform X, Khamenei said the alleged violations exposed the fundamental nature of American diplomacy toward Tehran. "The repeated breaches of the agreement by the Great Satan [the US] regarding the MOU signed by the Presidents of Iran and the US have once again laid bare a fundamental truth: the signature of the US President is utterly worthless and devoid of credibility," Khamenei stated.

He added that "coercion, totalitarianism, and brutality are inseparable components of the US creed and doctrine," emphasizing that protecting Iran's dignity and independence remains paramount against what he termed the "criminal and cunning US enemy."

Warnings of Retaliation

Khamenei warned that Washington's efforts to escalate the conflict would bring further costs and humiliation to the American side. "The American enemy is seeking to escalate the conflict thereby incurring even heavier costs and further humiliation," he said, noting that the Iranian people and the "Resistance Front" have prepared "unforgettable lessons" for Washington. He cited the valor of Islamic fighters and the courage of civilians in southern regions as examples of the nation's resolve.

Suspension of Commitments

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian echoed the call for national solidarity, writing on X that "adherence to the requirements of sacred unity and avoidance of disagreement and division are the key to victory at this historic juncture." Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that Tehran had suspended its commitments to the MoU after "the US violated its commitments." The Pakistan-brokered agreement was signed in June to end the war and establish lasting peace, yet attacks between the two countries have continued unabated.
