The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Sunday it destroyed US HIMARS missile launchers stationed in Kuwait during a precision drone operation, claiming three American officers were killed as the regional conflict sparked by February's US-Israeli offensive against Iran shows no sign of abating.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Sunday claimed to have destroyed American HIMARS missile launchers stationed in Kuwait, stating the weapons were targeted in a "precision drone operation" as the US-Israeli war against the Islamic Republic entered its third month. The semi-official Fars News Agency carried a statement from the elite force asserting that the ground-to-ground missile systems and their accompanying pods "were ready to fire toward Iran, were destroyed." The IRGC cited unofficial reports indicating that three US officers were killed and several others wounded in the attack, though neither American nor Kuwaiti authorities issued immediate confirmation of the claims.

Regional escalation continues

According to the Iranian statement, US short-range HIMARS missiles had struck multiple locations along Iran's southern coastline during recent attacks and throughout the US-Israeli offensive that began in late February. The war has seen repeated exchanges of fire across the region, with Iran targeting American military assets and allies in retaliation for Washington's strikes against Iranian nuclear and military facilities.

Earlier on Sunday, Kuwait's government acknowledged that three land border posts in the country's north and an offshore drilling platform operated by Kuwait Oil Company came under assault, causing material damage and injuring one worker. Kuwaiti officials did not specify the party responsible for the strikes, and there was no immediate comment from Washington regarding the IRGC's specific claims about the destruction of missile launchers on Kuwaiti soil.
