Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported on Monday that Israeli forces demolished and burned homes in the southern town of Hadatha, marking the latest breach of a US-sponsored framework agreement that has failed to halt daily violations or secure a full withdrawal from occupied territory.

Israeli troops were reported to be razing and torching structures in the southern neighborhoods of Hadatha, Lebanon's National News Agency said. The destruction came one day after Israeli forces detonated a large explosive device in the southern city of Bint Jbeil, compounding concerns over the sustainability of the fragile truce.

Framework agreement under strain

The latest incidents occur despite a ceasefire that took effect in November 2024 and a subsequent US-sponsored framework deal signed on June 26, 2026, which outlines a phased Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese land. Lebanon's state media characterized Monday's actions as part of a continuous pattern of Israeli breaches that have persisted since the accord was reached.

Ongoing occupation

Israel maintains control over multiple areas in southern Lebanon — some occupied for decades and others seized during the 2023-2024 conflict when troops advanced more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory. The continued presence of Israeli forces beyond the withdrawal timeline stipulated in the June agreement has drawn repeated condemnation from Beirut, though diplomatic efforts have yet to secure a complete pullback.
