The Jordanian army said on Monday evening that it had intercepted three missiles fired from Iran toward the kingdom, triggering warning sirens across the country as tensions between Tehran and Washington continued to escalate across the Middle East.
No casualties or damage were reported from the interception, according to Jordan’s state news agency Petra, which cited a military statement. Jordanian engineering teams were deployed to the sites where debris fell to secure the areas and remove remnants of the incoming ordnance.
Army vows to defend sovereignty
The army noted that it continues to monitor the kingdom’s airspace and maintain operational readiness against further threats. "We will not hesitate to confront any threat to the kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens in accordance with the applicable rules of engagement," the command said, reaffirming its commitment to defensive protocols.
Regional tensions flare
The military’s announcement came shortly after warning sirens sounded across the country, according to state-run Al-Mamlaka TV. The interception occurs amid escalating exchanges between Iran and the United States across the Middle East, with regional powers bracing for further spillover from the ongoing confrontation.
