Kuwait says Iranian attack fires contained, crew injured

Kuwait's Fire Force announced Saturday that emergency crews have brought under control five separate blazes — two at targeted industrial sites and three in residential neighborhoods — caused by Iranian attacks on facilities linked to US forces.

Fire Force spokesman Mohammad Ibrahim said five specialized teams, supported by oil sector crews, extinguished the blaze at the first targeted site while three additional teams tackled the second location. The operations succeeded in containing the industrial fires despite ongoing hostile activity in the area.

Casualties reported

The first site was struck again while emergency crews were battling the initial blaze, Ibrahim said, injuring several firefighters and one oil-sector worker. The wounded received first aid at the scene before transfer to hospital, though officials did not specify the exact number of casualties or the severity of their injuries.

Firefighters also controlled three separate blazes in residential areas caused by falling shrapnel from the attacks, according to the Fire Force statement. Those fires caused material damage to property but resulted in no civilian casualties, Ibrahim noted.

Regional escalation

The incidents mark the latest escalation in a week-long exchange of hostilities between Washington and Tehran. American forces have carried out successive waves of strikes on Iranian targets since late February, prompting retaliatory attacks against facilities used by the US military in Kuwait and other regional countries.
