Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that continued Western arms supplies to Ukraine are "unacceptable" to Moscow. The two diplomats met on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Manila, their first face-to-face talks since September, with the meeting lasting around 37 minutes.
Ukraine and Commitment to Peace
A Russian Foreign Ministry statement said Lavrov briefed Rubio on the situation along the line of contact and "emphasized the inadmissibility of further armament of the Kyiv regime." He reaffirmed Moscow's readiness for a political settlement and its commitment to US-floated proposals made during the Putin-Trump summit in Alaska last August.
Other Issues and Future Contacts
The meeting also covered regional issues, including the situation in the Persian Gulf. Both diplomats welcomed the resumption of full-fledged contacts between Roscosmos and NASA, and expressed support for developing interparliamentary exchanges and cultural ties. They agreed to continue contacts between their foreign ministries.
