10 injured as hundreds of Ukrainian drones target Moscow region

Moscow region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said 10 people were injured — including three Chinese citizens — after Ukrainian forces launched more than 400 drones toward the capital overnight, as municipal authorities reported significant damage to multiple districts. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said air defenses intercepted most projectiles on the outskirts, with 85 drones shot down as they approached the city, while Vorobyov noted the main damage occurred in Podolsk, Domodedovo and Odintsovo districts.

Drone debris struck several private homes and sparked fires across civilian infrastructure, Vorobyov said, adding that electronic warfare systems repelled the bulk of the assault. Ukrainian monitoring channels reported strikes on Wildberries' main logistics center in Koledino and the Yuzhnye Vorota park in Domodedovo — a claim confirmed by district head Evgeniya Khurstaleva, who noted fires broke out at the site.

Competing air defense claims

The state news agency Tass described the attack as "one of the largest" Ukrainian strikes on the capital in recent years. Russia's Defense Ministry said its forces shot down 381 Ukrainian drones over the country, annexed Crimea, and the waters of the Azov and Black Seas, though independent observers could not immediately verify these figures.

Ukraine's Air Force said Russian forces launched two guided aircraft missiles and 94 drones overnight, adding that Ukrainian air defenses destroyed or suppressed 81 projectiles over northern, southern and eastern regions of the country. Independent verification of the competing claims remains difficult due to the ongoing hostilities.
