Netanyahu rejects Trump Gaza plan, vows no pullout until Hamas disarmed

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday rejected a 15-point plan for Gaza approved by US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, insisting that Israeli forces will not withdraw from the Palestinian territory until Hamas is completely disarmed. The Israeli premier made the remarks in a video statement at the start of a Cabinet meeting, according to Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth.

Disarmament conditions

Netanyahu stated that any withdrawal of Israeli troops is contingent upon the complete disarmament of the Palestinian group. "The Israeli army will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is disarmed," he said, stressing that the process must cover "the heavy weapons, the less heavy weapons." He added that Israel wants "real disarmament, not fake disarmament."

US negotiations

The Israeli leader said his government is currently engaged in discussions with Washington regarding the proposal. He noted that the United States has presented several ideas, stating: "Some of them are acceptable to us and some are not acceptable to us," without elaborating on which specific provisions had been rejected.

Draft agreement details

The Board of Peace released the draft agreement on July 31, outlining principles and implementation mechanisms for the next phase of Trump’s Gaza plan. The document includes provisions for security, administrative and transitional arrangements for the enclave, alongside a proposed political track.
