The ministry condemned repeated attacks on vessels transiting the strategic waterway, stating that such actions violated international law and the sovereignty of regional states while threatening to disrupt the ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at securing freedom of navigation.

The statement from Muscat came hours after the United Arab Emirates accused Iran of targeting an Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) vessel with a missile while the ship was passing through the Strait of Hormuz. ADNOC reported that no injuries occurred during the incident and that the situation had been brought under control, though Iranian authorities had not publicly responded to the allegation by Saturday evening despite mounting regional scrutiny.

Tehran cites progress on shipping framework

Earlier on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran and Muscat were "very close" to finalizing an agreement on new shipping arrangements in the strategic waterway. Araghchi stated that negotiations focused on establishing a legal framework for managing the strait, including determining a new traffic route that would accommodate the interests of all parties involved in the critical oil transit corridor.
