Russia's Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that units of its Vostok group of forces had seized control of Liubytske, a village in eastern Ukraine. The ministry stated that the capture followed sustained combat operations in the region.
Ukrainian drone offensive
Ukraine's General Staff reported that its forces conducted overnight drone strikes targeting an oil refinery in Ufa — a major industrial city in Russia's Bashkortostan region. The attacks also struck the industrial zone of Nizhnekamskneftekhim in the neighboring Tatarstan region.
Infrastructure under fire
Additional strikes hit energy facilities located in Russian-controlled sectors of Ukraine's Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, the General Staff noted. Neither side's claims could be independently verified due to ongoing hostilities.
The conflict, which began in February 2022, has entered its fifth year with no diplomatic resolution in sight. Both sides continue to exchange attacks across the 1,000-kilometer frontline.
