Moscow's Defense Ministry announced on Friday that its forces have captured the village of Yurkivka, located approximately 16 kilometers east of the strategic cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, as part of ongoing offensive operations in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday that its forces have seized control of the village of Yurkivka in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, a settlement located approximately 16 kilometers east of the strategic cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. The ministry said in a statement that the capture marks the latest advance in Moscow's ongoing offensive across the Donbas area.

Ukrainian strongholds face pressure

Kramatorsk and Sloviansk have remained among Ukraine's key defensive positions in the region, with the former serving as an administrative center since Russian forces seized Donetsk city in 2014. Ukraine's General Staff reported earlier that Russian forces launched 11 assaults near four settlements on the Sloviansk front, including Rai-Oleksandrivka — located approximately 5 kilometers northeast of Yurkivka.

Verification challenges remain

Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on Moscow's latest territorial claim, and the report could not be independently verified due to restrictions imposed by the ongoing war. Fighting has intensified across the Donetsk region as both sides contest control of key settlements and transportation corridors.
