Four killed as Russian serviceman opens fire in Crimea village

Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said on Tuesday that a Russian serviceman opened fire on fellow soldiers and local residents in the village of Khmelnytske, killing four people and wounding four others in a deadly shooting incident.

The incident occurred in Khmelnytske, located near the strategic port city of Sevastopol in Crimea. The serviceman initially targeted fellow soldiers, killing one and wounding another, Razvozhayev stated. He then allegedly wounded three other people and killed three local residents — two men aged 71 and 59 and a 64-year-old woman.

Detention and probe

Security forces subsequently detained the attacker, the governor told local media. The wounded are receiving medical treatment, while investigators and forensic experts work at the scene to document evidence. Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances or possible motive behind the shooting.
