Trump accuses Iran of ‘numerous’ ceasefire violations as truce nears end

President Trump claimed Iran violated the two-week US-Iran ceasefire “numerous times” as the truce is set to expire Wednesday. A second round of Pakistan-mediated talks is expected in Islamabad, but Iranian participation remains uncertain. Trump earlier said extending the ceasefire is “highly unlikely.”
US President Donald Trump alleged on Tuesday that Iran has violated the two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran on “numerous times,” just a day before the truce is scheduled to expire. “Iran has Violated the Cease Fire numerous times!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. The remarks come as the two sides are expected to hold a second round of negotiations in Islamabad, though Iran’s participation has yet to be confirmed. The US delegation will again be led by Vice President JD Vance.
Ceasefire and talks timeline
Hostilities between the US-Israeli alliance and Iran began on Feb. 28 with joint strikes on Iranian territory, followed by Iranian retaliation against Israel and other regional countries hosting US assets. Pakistan brokered a 14-day ceasefire that took effect on April 8 and hosted the first round of peace talks in Islamabad on April 11-12. That round ended without a breakthrough. Trump has previously stated that it is “highly unlikely” he will extend the ceasefire beyond Wednesday.
