US strikes have targeted an airport, a strategic bridge, and a telecommunications tower in Iran, wounding at least seven people, according to Iranian media. The attacks followed mutual threats, with President Trump warning that power plants and bridges would be hit if Tehran refuses to negotiate.
US warplanes carried out new strikes on infrastructure targets across Iran, hitting an airport in the city of Iranshahr, a strategic bridge near Bandar Khamir, and a telecommunications tower near Bandar Abbas, Iranian media reported. At least seven people were injured in the attacks, which came after US President Donald Trump and Iranian military officials exchanged threats over targeting infrastructure.
Energy and Telecommunications Targeted
The attacks took place after Trump warned earlier in the week that he would "put energy targets until last but at the end we will hit them," threatening to disable all power plants and bridges if Tehran does not return to negotiations. The bridge targeted near Bandar Khamir is a critical route connecting the cities of Bandar Abbas and Shiraz, while the telecommunications tower strike in Bandar Abbas reportedly caused power outages in the region.
Iran's Warning and Retaliation
Iran's military spokesman Brigadier General Abolfazl Shikarchi had previously stated that any attack on Iran's infrastructure would be met with strikes on all infrastructure in the region. The US has not yet commented on the details of the latest strikes. The attack marks a further escalation in the conflict between the two sides, which has been ongoing for over a week.
