AABushehr's deputy governor for political and security affairs told state media that four separate locations in the southwestern city were struck by hostile projectiles Tuesday afternoon, as the US Central Command confirmed a new wave of strikes targeting military sites across the Islamic Republic.
Bushehr's deputy governor for political and security affairs said four separate locations across the southwestern city — which hosts key nuclear facilities — were struck by hostile projectiles Tuesday afternoon, according to Iran's state-run IRNA news agency. Ehsan Jahanian told the agency that the attacks hit distinct areas in the city, though no casualties had been reported.
"Four locations in the city of Bushehr were struck by hostile projectiles this afternoon," Jahanian said. Residents of Bushehr and the nearby area of Choghadak heard multiple explosions following the strikes, Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency reported, while state broadcaster IRIB noted that five explosions were also heard west of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran.
CENTCOM confirms multi-city campaign
The US Central Command announced early Tuesday that it had completed its latest wave of strikes against military targets across Iran, including facilities in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas. Washington has carried out strikes on Iran in recent days, stating that the actions respond to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Fragile ceasefire collapses
The latest attacks come amid heightened tensions around the Strait of Hormuz following the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran on Feb. 28. Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding in June that included a ceasefire brokered by Qatar and Pakistan, but US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 that the ceasefire "is over" following renewed escalation.
