The ones liquidated from the press in 2014!

Every era has its own specific imperatives. It will be the beginning of the end for the ones, who cannot stand upright or bet on the wrong horse when those imperatives arise. 2014 was such a year. The December 17 – 25 coup attempts of the Gülenist police-judiciary junta were openly aimed at the Turkish government. This illegal criminal syndicate, which has chosen the elected rulership as their target, had entwined all the marrows of the government like a tumor and mobilized to tear down all the acquisitions of the nation.

What’s being expected from all the institutions of the government, press, businesspersons and NGOs, is to stand by the government at that point and take an evident stance against this criminal syndicate. Some of them had taken this stance; however, there were also some that had sided with this criminal syndicate openly. Those had been compulsorily liquidated. The government did nothing to them; they finished their own careers with their own hands.

In his article entitled “A government that is crying out ‘there is a spy’”, which had been published in March 29 in the Hürriyet newspaper, Ahmet Hakan Coşkun had criticized the government directly, while saying nothing to the Gülen-led group who had published this recording. The following is a part from that article: “How are you administering this country that while failing to present even a single bit of concrete evidence, you only managed to say “parallel structure” and nothing more?  How are you administering this country that you said ‘this is a declaration of war’, however you didn’t present a single concrete perception that backs this claim, and thus fell into a position where you don’t even know your enemy completely?”

Can anyone protect the parallel structure, which had targeted the government and nation openly, better than this? Coşkun had lost his reputation, like Nazlı Ilıcıak, who blatantly became the advocate of the criminal syndicate.

For example, the Radikal newspaper had become the loser of 2014. Now, it became a website, which publishes sloppy news and where no serious people write. The press career of Eyüp Can, who administers Radikal newspaper and takes orders from his elder brothers, had come to an end. I’ve written a lot that Radikal newspaper is closing and Eyüp Can is shooting himself in the foot. When Radikal supported the halting of the MIT Lorries, they had burned down the bridges. Otherwise, the halting of the MIT Lorries is news material; however, defending it is wrong. The result is obvious. Also, Cüneyt Demir was on the side of the Gülen-led group due to the leash around his neck; however, his writing career had also come to an end. Likewise, the Karşı newspaper, which had been fed by the Gülen-led group with documents, had ended in the history’s dump.

Enis Berberoğlu, who had been placed on the hot seat of Hürriyet newspaper with the request of the Gülen-led group, had been liquidated in the same way. Because, he had openly taken side with the Gülen-led group and lost. Recently, Hürriyet is publishing more news about the Gülen-led group. Especially after the successful reporter Toygun Atilla Berberoğlu, it became prominent even more.

The writers in the Ciner press had also got their share from this liquidation. Fatih Altaylı had been removed from his Chief Editor position at Habertürk, and now he is only writing about football. This was caused because of his relation with Ali Fuat Yılmazer. In 2010, Fatih Altaylı had assigned his girlfriend Serap Çil as the fashion writer in the newspaper. He had panicked, after his relationship with Serap Çil was revealed when his wife found out about the expensive present he had bought for Serap Çil. With panic, he knocked on Ali Fuat Yılmazer’s door, one of the strongest police chiefs of that time. Yılmazer, who is a master in such tasks, sets up an enactment. He sets up a story that Serap Çil had blackmailed Fatih Altaylı to receive those presents, and that in reality Fatih Altaylı has no girlfriend. The police and prosecutor side of the issue had been handled this way. Also, the girl has been pressured into accepting this story. When she didn’t, Altaylı and his bodyguard resorted to violence. They hit the girl with a stick. The rest is known to everyone. Altaylı had become a hostage of the Gülen-led group after this incident.

Also, another writer, Yavuz Semerci is not writing about politics anymore. He went missing for a while, then returned later on. Now, the tamed Semerci is writing “safe” articles and spending some time. He was also set straight by the judges and police officers of the Gülen-led group, because of things he had done in the stock market.

There is another aspect to all this. For example, despite seeing the real face of this illegal criminal syndicate, there were many people like Mustafa Akyol, who had chosen a common ground. Akyol is someone who knows everything; besides, he is one of the people who had told some writers about the dirty laundry of the Gülen-led group in 2010. However, Akyol couldn’t take a stance against this criminal syndicate openly, and couldn’t hold on in the press.

2015 is a year, where many things related with the press will be experienced. Let me tell you this much; in a democratic country, no press of the structure, who had entered the red book of the government, can survive. The government cannot be threatened or shown as a target from the columns of newspapers. Thus, Ekrem Dumanlı might return to being a literature teacher after being a chief editor.
