''Ordu-Giresun'' enters in last phase
The construction efforts in Europe''s first airport in water-filled area on the Black Sea, Giresun-Ordu, has entered the last phase.
The airport of whose foundation was laid in 2011, is expected to put into service on the 91th anniversary of Turkish Republic.
With its sea embankment, it will be the sole airport in Europe and the second one in the world after Osaka airport in Japan.
Giresun-Ordu Airport will be 52th airport in Turkey as well as first of such which has been built in the middle of the sea. Cengiz-Içtas Joint Venture had won the contract to build the Ordu-Giresun airport three years ago.
The airport will have an airfield at a length of 3 km and a capacity of 2 million passengers per year and will ease the international air traffic to the region.
The project is also expected to help boost commercial activities in the region drawing international investors.
