Researcher Nathan J. Robinson and Christine Figgener with the Leatherback Trust, an organization that works to protect sea turtles, discovered a sea turtle that had an obstruction in its nostril on the coast of Costa Rica. The video footage shows how the 10- 12 cm plastic straw removed from nostril of the sea turtle. Plastic items that find their way into the world's oceans pose an especially deadly threat to marine life. Fish and other sea creatures ingest the plastic or become tangled in it with harmful or fatal results. The Olive Ridley sea turtle, also known as the Pacific Ridley sea turtle, is a medium-sized species of sea turtle found in warm and tropical waters, primarily in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
