French discovery to comfort pancreatic cancer patients
Laboratory findings in the French national medical research institute resulted in a major breakthrough for the pancreatic tumors treatment,
A recent survey on a virus, which has been genetically modified in order to remove cancer cells, holds promise for the patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, according to a statement by the Scientists in France’s National Health and Medical Research Institute, or INSERM.
The research proved that the new virus, modified from ‘herpes simplex’, has been replicated into the cancer cells and deleted most of them without damaging healthy body cells, said the statement on the INSERM official site.
The scientists have injected only one dose of the genetically-modified virus to some mouses, which had been previously injected into cancerous human cells, to see how it would work.
The tumors actually shrank in size after the experimental animals received this new treatment along with the chemotherapy, Serious side effects were not prevalent.
