Turkey inaugurates ‘Project of the Century’ to transfer water to Northern Cyprus
Turkey commenced fresh water supply to northern Cyprus, which desperately needed the water coming from Turkey to develop its economy as well as for household use. It is the world's first underwater pipeline between the mainland and an island, as well as the first line physically connecting the territory to the motherland, Turkey, to the foster land, Northern Cyprus.
