Switzerland, France and the United States led medal winners on the fifth day of the Winter Olympics, with titles decided in alpine skiing, biathlon, freestyle skiing, luge, Nordic combined, speed skating and ice dance.

The 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics delivered another electrifying day of competition Wednesday, with gold medals awarded across seven disciplines as athletes pushed the limits of speed, precision and artistry on the world's biggest stage.

Alpine skiing and biathlon

Switzerland's Franjo von Allmen cemented his status as a Games legend, capturing his third Olympic gold medal in the men's super-G. American Ryan Cochran-Siegle claimed silver, while Swiss teammate Marco Odermatt added bronze to complete a strong day for the Alpine nation. In women's biathlon, France swept the podium top spots as Julia Simon took gold in the 15-kilometer individual event, followed by compatriot Lou Jeanmonnot with silver. Bulgaria's Lora Hristova secured bronze.

Freestyle skiing and Nordic combined

The United States dominated the women's moguls final, with Elizabeth Lemley claiming gold and Jaelin Kauf taking silver. France's Perrine Laffont rounded out the podium with bronze. In Nordic combined, Norway's Jens Luraas Oftebro powered to victory in the individual 10-kilometer event, outpacing Austria's Johannes Lamparter and Finland's Eero Hirvonen.

Luge and speed skating

Host nation Italy celebrated double gold in luge, with Andrea Voetter and Marion Oberhofer triumphing in women's doubles before Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner added men's doubles gold. Germany and Austria shared the remaining podium positions across both events. On the ice oval, American Jordan Stolz delivered an Olympic record performance in the men's 1,000-meter speed skating, relegating the Netherlands' Jenning de Boo to silver and China's Zhongyan Ning to bronze.

Ice dance artistry

The figure skating arena witnessed pure elegance as French duo Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron dazzled judges to capture ice dance gold. Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates took silver, while Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier earned bronze. Competition also continued in curling, ice hockey and snowboarding as the 2026 Winter Games approach their halfway mark.
