Ayyıldız Tim hacks Russian websites

Group hacks 61 Russian websites in 'revenge' for Russian airstrikes in Turkmen areas in Syria and 'Moscow's support to Armenians'

Russian websites have been under a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack of by a Turkish group, Ayyıldız Tim. Up to now, the group has hacked 61 Russian websites, according to Turkish Sabah newspaper.

Viewers see the message, “This website is hacked by Ayyıldız Tim” followed by the Turkish flag, the image of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Turkey and the Janissary Anthem.

The group left a notice saying, "Turkey was with Russia when the country was facing hard times. However, you (Russians) decided to support Armenians against Turkey and then bomb Turkmen areas and kill innocent civilians in Syria."

Ayyıldız Tim previously hacked the Anonymous hacker group with the aim of criticizing the group's supportive attitude towards Russia.

After the hacking, the founder said that they wanted to retaliate against Anonymous for trying to humiliate Turkey.

Hackings follow attacks towards Turkey

The recent attacks of Ayyıldız Tim followed the DDoS attacks which have been plaguing Turkish websites since 14 December.

During the period, access to as many as 400,000 Turkish websites was disabled by the attacks.

The main suspect in the attack is Russia, which increased tension with extensive economic sanctions against Turkey over the downing of an SU-24 in November.

The suspicion gained strength with the statement of the hacker group Anonymous, which claimed responsibility for the attacks, but added that their campaign was against Turkey, which downed a Russian jet

Ayyıldız Tim also previously hacked websites of the United States and Israel.
