Azerbaijan ending visa requirement for Turkish citizens

Ending visa requirements in line with understanding of 'one nation, two states,' says Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu
As of Sept. 1, Turkish citizens visiting Azerbaijan will no longer need visas, Turkey announced on Thursday.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan last week was informed of the new policy by Ilham Aliyev, his Azerbaijani counterpart, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu wrote on Twitter.
The measure is in line with the traditional understanding that Turkey and Azerbaijan are "one nation, two states," Çavuşoğlu added.
He also posted a letter from Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry to Turkey saying the action was taken as the two countries’ "cultural roots, friendship, brotherhood, and solidarity are at the highest level and developing in all fields".
As of Sept. 1, visa requirements for Turkish citizens with valid passports who want to visit the Republic of Azerbaijan for up to 30 days are abolished, said the letter.
