Erdogan holds bilateral talks with Canadian, Ethiopian leaders at G20 summit

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conducted a series of diplomatic meetings with international counterparts during the G20 Leaders' Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, strengthening bilateral ties and multilateral cooperation.

High-Level Bilateral Engagements

The Turkish president met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the sidelines of the two-day international gathering. In a separate closed-door session at the Johannesburg Expo Center, Erdogan held discussions with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

Multilateral Platform Participation

President Erdogan also participated in a meeting of MIKTA leaders, the cross-regional consultation platform comprising Türkiye, Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, and Australia. The gathering provided an opportunity for member nations to coordinate positions on global economic and political matters discussed during the broader G20 summit agenda.

Diplomatic Delegation Support

The Turkish delegation included Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, and Chief Foreign Policy and Security Adviser Akif Cagatay Kilic, among other senior officials. Their presence underscored the importance of the diplomatic engagements conducted throughout the summit, which brings together leaders from the world's major economies to address pressing international challenges.
