Iran threatens retaliation against Israeli diplomatic sites across region

Iran's military has warned that any Israeli attack on Iranian embassies or diplomatic missions would trigger immediate retaliation against Israeli diplomatic sites across the region. A spokesperson for Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters declared that all of what he called the "Zionist regime's fake embassies" would be considered legitimate targets. The threat follows a US-Israeli joint offensive on Iran that began on February 28.
Iran's military issued a warning on Saturday, stating that any Israeli attack on Iranian embassies or diplomatic missions would prompt immediate retaliatory strikes against Israeli diplomatic sites throughout the region. The threat was delivered by Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesperson for Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, in a statement published by the official IRNA news agency.
Direct threat against Israeli missions
Zolfaghari declared that any act of Israeli aggression against Iranian embassies and diplomatic facilities would result in all of what he called the "Zionist regime's fake embassies" in the region being treated as legitimate targets by Iran's armed forces. The statement represents a sharp escalation in rhetorical confrontation between the two adversaries.
Background of rising tensions
Regional tensions have increased significantly since the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran on February 28. That operation has so far killed more than 1,340 people, including then-supreme leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Tehran has carried out drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military assets.
