Security wall partially completed on Turkey's Syrian border
Part of the wall between Hatay and Kilis provinces is completed; construction continues on the Turkish border north of Syria's Afrin town which is controlled by PKK/PYD terrorists
In order to stop illegal crossings, Turkey has been erecting a wall along the Turkish-Syrian border and a section between Hatay and Kilis provinces has been completed.
The wall is currently being constructed on the Turkish border directly north of Afrin town, which is controlled by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)-affiliated Democratic Union Party (PYD).
The Turkish security authority has also been constructing shooting gun towers that can warn and fire automatically in addition to the security wall being constructed along the 350-kilometer-long border with Syria.
The towers will be integrated with a computerized system, featuring an alarm system in four languages and automated firing systems.
A high-tech program, including machine guns, thermal cameras, and alert systems, will be installed and will be activated if any element comes within 300 meters of the border line.
An automated speaker from the tower will warn the element or person in three languages to leave the area immediately.
An automated machine gun will start firing at the element, if it does not comply.
According to the ministry, the smart towers will also be established along the Syrian border in Hatay, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa and Mardin provinces.
The wall is expected to be finished by the end of 2016.
